The National Mini-tennis Programme and the Nestle National Mini-tennis Tournament
The Mini-Tennis Programme is one of Tennis Jamaica’s most innovative programmes.
Mini-Tennis a scaled-down version of tennis, which is accepted worldwide as an effective way to introduce children to the game. They learn with paddles and low compression foam balls. Over 500 boys & girls at over 45 prep and primary schools around Jamaica take part in the 2 Mini-Tennis categories: 8 & Under and 11 & Under.
Tennis Jamaica provides racquets and balls to participating schools.
Tennis Jamaica organizes the regional competitions and national finals of the Nestle National Mini-Tennis Tournament. Many of our recent national players and winners of tennis scholarships to U.S. universities and tennis academies were introduced to the game through Mini-Tennis.
